I'm tempted to write: "It's been a quite year in Lake Wobegon, my hometown.", with apologies to Garrison Kiellor. But actually, the year has not been exactly quiet, and has in fact been quite challenging in many ways not related to music. As a result, there have been few shows and no apparent musical activity.
But there have been undercurrents flowing. Songwriting—which to me is always a pure joy—has come in juicy spurts. And, I've continued to work and play in my home studio on the recordings for my next release, and that has been lovely and fruitful.
I'm about to embark on a week of rest, rejuvenation, and writing at my favorite retreat-away place in the heart of the Cascades.
The new year promises to be good one, at least that's how it feels to me. I'm wishing you all a happy and fulfilling 2012!
James
