James has written a number of songs related to the loss of his daughter. In a very personal voice, they speak of the mysterious qualities of experience and intense emotional colors that come along with an event as shattering as the loss of a child.
About this, James May says, "As I've written about my daughter and my experience in losing her, I've been helped by the process, in more ways than I would have imagined. But hey, what did I know? I've never been this way before. It is my hope that listening to these songs will somehow make your journey a little lighter, and that you might find some solace or encouragement, perhaps even a little strength."
For The Bereaved
There are three songs on the album “A Thousand Shining Pieces” that go directly to the heart of James’ loss:
Five Years On – Evocative and haunting, the Irish flute sets the mood in this song set five years after the loss of his daughter. Powerfully moving, yet filled with light.
Loving Arms – A lament, slow and soulful, about the cycle of life and death. String trio and acoustic guitar.
Hey There - Gentle rocker with electric guitars, B3 organ, and potent vocal harmonies. A conversation across the great divide.
Besides being available on the album “A Thousand Shining Pieces” which can be purchased at CDBaby, these songs are also available as individual MP3 downloads.
